USING iDROLOC TO LOCATE LEAKS IN THE FIRE-FIGHTING NETWORK OF THE NEW PANAMA CANAL

Thanks to iDROLOC technology, Aquatec was able to locate leaks in the fire-fighting networks of the new Panama Canal, installed by GUPC (Grupo Unidos por el Canal, SA). It was challenging work, as new leaks which had been imperceptible at lower pressures would appear when the pressure increased.

Furthermore, as there was no circulating flow, hardly any sound was made, which ruled out traditional acoustic methods (such as the use of geophones and correlators), nor did the water advance, which made the use of invasive methods impossible.

This situation, along with the depth at which the pipe was located, the type of terrain (concrete slabs) and piping operation, led GUPC to choose iDROLOC, the only technology able to detect possible leaks.
